just to reiterate on what causes stringers to rot, its the foam guys, it dams and holds water the minute it is put in, there is no way for the moisture to escape thus it keeps the stringers wet and then they rot. it is required by the USCG on new boats under 21 or 22 feet along with a tether switch in case you fall out, after that though they dont care
