Hey guys, I've got another problem...my horn does not work on my 78 ski nautique. What steps do I need to follow to troubleshoot the problem.

Is your horn located in the front Cowl ??
Sometimes if you dip the nose of the boat into a wake at idle speed , water will get into the horns (compact double horn ) and kill them . If that is not the case your swtich or wiring could be bad also check the fuse . Mike |

nautique frk is right, those horns dont like tons of water. If you have a current meter on the dash it will tell you alot. With the engine not running, hit the horn switch. If the current meter reads about 25 amps discharge, then your wiring/switch is prob ok and the horn diaphrams are stuck. They can be taken apart and cleaned. The hardest part is to set the diaphram initial tension to get them started, then adjust for best sound. If you dont have a current meter, turn on the stern light(or something similar) and see if it dims slightly when you hit the horn (motor off). if it dims, the horns are drawing current and need cleaning, if not, the wiring or switch may be bad. Good luck!!
