I was reading an ad for a Hyperlite board (State)and it stated that it has asymetrical rails. So toeside was different from heelside. Does this mean I have to order a diffent board if I ride goofy foot or turn the board around when mounting the bindings? Isn't toeside for LFF heelside for RFF? Or am I reading something wrong?

Yes you would just mount the bindings 180, same board.

Correct. BKH
Edit. Thinking about this more. There is a healside and a toeside to the board. However, physically, I believe there is no front or back the the board. The only thing that would be "backward" woudl be the graphics. I would set it up with and even ducking of the feet, and if a goofy footed rider gets on the board, just leave. No sense moving binding around for graphics. BKH |

Actually, I was thinking about this some more. On that board, the bindings can only go one way. There is a toe side and a heal side.
If you flipped the bindings 180 you would be riding with the toes pointing to the heelside of the board. Out of the box, the graphics will be facing forward in one direction (Probably regular foot, but I don't know), and facing backward in the other direction. When riding switch, it would reverse. Now, if you don't duck the bindings evenly, then you might have to adjust the angles for regular vs. goofy foot riders. If you duck them evenly, then it's set it and forget it. BKH |

HA! Got me too. Your heel is your heel no matter which direction you're going (to your right, or to your left).

From hyperlite:
The State series is a shape that you don't have to learn how to ride, it will perform comfortably for all ability levels and styles. The State is shaped differently from edge to edge helping a rider compensate for the awkwardness edging, jumping and landing on a toeside edge. Our subtle 3-stage rocker provides a great pop off the wake while remaining a smooth carver. The State is a great board for riders getting into the sport or those who are looking for advancement in their skills on the board. Features Toe Side/ Heel Side Specific Edges Deeper Molded-in Toe Side Fin Outer Molded-in Stabilizers Subtle 3-Stage Rocker Monocoque Construction Layered Glass So my question is.... If there is a Toe Side/ Heel Side specific edge. would it would be opposite for a RFF rider than it would for a LFF rider? |

We got that board the year it came out and I never knew that about it. Maybe they changed it later. It seems to be a decent intermidiate board. I think it's claim to fame is it's rocker.

No, the toeside is the toe side, regardless which foot you have forward. As I said, the graphics will be reversed depending upon which foot you put forward, but there is only one toe side regardless of which way your stand. BKH

That's kinda what I meant. If you ride goofy foot the graphics would need to be upside down.

Probably. I haven't looked at the graphics. It is possible that the regular footers are "upside down" on the graphics. Unless the graphics are identical each way then one or the other is graphics backward. BKH
