Here's my first bike and yes I still have it.

1978 Z50 delivered by Santa Clause himself on December 24th or early 25th 1977.

It's all original except for the back tire, headlight and seat cover. Carb has been giving trouble, but I could have it running in 15minutes if I had to.

Yep, lots of memories on this bike. My dad took the training wheels off of my banana seat bike and put them on the z50. First time on it, I ran it straight into a tree. I'd love to know how many miles are on the bike. All of them would be within about a 1 mile radius of my childhood home. At some point, my little sister got the bike and my dad bought me an old beater kawasaki g5.

The z50 and a Toyota pickup truck that I had in high school must be the most well engineered vehicles i've ever operated. Both run/ran great.

The z50 and a .22 Browning rifle are about the only two things I have that aren't for sale, ever, period.

You hardly used yours ,but I would like to know how far I've gone too. I'm on my 3rd rear tire,2nd front and second set of brakes.Had to replace all the wheel bearings after the 1st year, the 1st time I got to ride it was on Sanibel Island beach.Try doing that today! I semi restored it in the early '90s,was able to get nos parts real cheap then, new bars, seat, tail light assy.I repainted the wheels, but all other paint is original. Not even remotely perfect but every scratch has a story.I also have a ct70 that I use regularly. Thanks for sharing.

You too, Gary. My daughters are getting to the age I was when I got the bike and I've got to get it in a little better shape so that they can get some time in on it while they are young. Also, I'd love to swap out my handlebars for some with a little wider grip as I think they feel safer and it wouldn't feel so squirrely, but I don't really want to mess with the originality. I also think I'm going to just buy another carb as a spare since the carb is the only thing that ever gives trouble and that's usually just b/c I don't run it enough. A spare would be nice to have.

my latest - 02 FLHT

I wont talk about the bikes sold to buy the SANTE. I wouldn't go back or change a thing, but I do have a love for the older iron. Can't keep them all.....

RJ....I forgot that you work at Mecca in Milwaukee. Nice looking FLHT. Did you do some custom black out work on the bike? Looks a lot like the new Street Glide. What are some of your favorites for the older iron. Knuckleheads, Panheads, Shovelheads??

I really like the '97 Heritage Softail Springer (white w/ red stripe). Old school looks w/ new technology performance.
