posted this in the wanted parts section but figured it would get seen more here. yes it happened. wont ever happen again but how do i go about getting a new/used gas cap for a 79' ski nauti??? thanks for the help in advance....

On a 79, it should be a standard Perko. Most of the marine supplies carry the replacement caps.

I replaced the entire assembly on mine when I restored my boat. They are available from most of the big catalog marine suppliers.

i still have yet to find something to replace the "original". also everyone only sells kits,....with the intake AND cap. just would really like to find a cap for this year,.....

Did you use the link I posted? Down on the bottom of the page is a cap only for just under $3. Isn't that the one you need?

Pete, is this true for the '76? I lost mine last year and ended up with a plastic 1.5" that I had to use a wrench to get a couple threads in... Lost that one too this year and have been looking to replace with a 1.5" Stainless but they are all a smudge too big. Is the pitch the same? If so i'll just get someone to turn it down a wee bit.
