Since the Pledge of Allegiance
And The Lord's Prayer Are not allowed in most Public schools anymore Because the word 'God' is mentioned..... A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer: Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd. If scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all.. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks... They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen |

Great stuff Kevin! It is amazing that "God", has been uplifted from schools and the pledge of Allegiance. That kid there spoke the truth and maybe someone will get the message. Doubt it, probally the next thing for ol Obama the "Magnificent", will probally in his last 2 yrs try to uplift "In God We Trust" on our federal money.

if a student wears a yammika to school is he cast out? if a muslim 8th grader prays in front of the faculty at the end of ramadan .would he be dragged off his knees? no they would all be allowed to do whatever they would like to do to celebrate their religion so that we can all appear politically correct.. but the one thing that has been related to this country for 200 + yrs ..in god we trust makes 1.5% of the country uncomfortable. i dont even believe in god but i respect him... or the lack of him and i certainly would respect a catholic /protestant/ muslim/ hindu.. whatever put the pledge back.. put the paper santas back up.. and def put allah up on the walls if thats what we need to do. just dont take every thing down . Remember when you were a kid and we would get excited for x mas and the teachers would touch on hanukah it didnt offend me it only intrigued me to learn about the world and religions.

What I don't get is why is Christmas still a paid holiday for federal, state and municipal workers, if those governments won't publicly recognize it.

Great poem and comments.
As for Phosher's comments -Besides "independent thinkers" who did you expect? Just curious. I've only surfed the maintenance and repair sections of this website over the years and it seems like people from all walks of life and all areas of the world. People get too caught up in the R's and D's to see through the trees sometimes. They are also way to concerned about being politically correct and offending someone.I believe we need to respect other people's opinions, but we also need to toughen up as a society and quit being so whiny (IMHO) |

I'll stick with this one, guess I'm old school.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." |

Eric, I have to agree, but it should go further. When you are in America you should respect the chosen language and learn it. I am tired of having to cater to the spanish speaking people. With all due respect to them, there are French, Polish, Russian, numerous Asian and Indian dialects, Greeks etc. They all use english as a common language.
When I go to Kmart if I want to enter I push the bar on the glass door and open it manually. If I choose to entrada the door opens automatically. WTF? It takes years, sponsors and tons of paperwork for a European to get a green card to come and go to America to visit, yet walk across the Mexican border and pick what you like off the give away menu. These days it has been decided (by who I don'tknow) that we must be PC. Well that to me is BS!!!! As for the pants hanging with the undies showing. That is my style but I have one hell of a gut and have no choice as to how my pants fit. That look is one I feel needs to be earned, not just belly wannabies mimicking my fashion. |

Oh, they all scream we absolutely MUST get Christianity out of our schools! Seperation of church and state!! But, I bet the "progressives" wouldn't bat an eye to have an Islam prayer put in schools in the name of tolerance and acceptance.....and political correctness.
Not sure its true or not, but, I heard that the city council in Hartford CT is going to open up all their meetings with a muslum prayer. Any of you New England guys know if thats true?? Please tell me it was just a crazy rumor. All this stuff is adding up, and the "folks", as Bill O'Reilly calls us, are getting fed up. I think this country has awakened to all this cr*p. Thank you Harry Ried, Nancy Pulosi, and Dear Leader Obama! At least you have done something positive for the country in that sense. |

MA or CT .....we are lucky they don't tax prayers here.
Yet! In the days of John Kennedy our country had Camelot. in The days of Barrack Obama our country came apart! |
