Shopping for a RH rotation Chevy 350 cam.
No good leads yet. Cam MFGs are closed... My choice for engines are: Pre 86 first gen or 1997 Vortec Roller cam. Vortec roller cam with GM part # list for over $600 online with none found so far. Price and availability will determine my next move as I've found a fresh built (Stock) marine Rh long block for under $1k (with cam). |

Florida Inboards inc. floridainboardsatmsndotcom. I can only assume it is a roller cam but will find out for sure! |

Might look to see if I can substitute a RA050012 in the Vortec. If not then I know I can build the old block and swap for the Vortec heads.
I need to research if my 1984 cam/crank gear drive set will work on the 97 Vortec cam/crank. Lunati can grind me a standard flat tappet CR cam for just under $200 Crane doesn't do CR cams any more. |

Whitfield, have a look on the Melling web site they run out standard RH cams for Chevy's, cost is low here so must be in the USA.

~ ~ ~ Thanks UK 1979, I'll take a look. I'm finding lots of listing with very little in stock. Looks like the economy has killed off 80%+ parts inventory.
Can anyone confirm the RH vortec cam timing assembly. It looks to be chain drive as where all previous GM Small block models were gear drive. I say this because I find a parts breakdown for RH rotation that includes cam and distributor gear but no new timing set. Intake $200 / Cam Flordia Inboards $500 / New RWP $175 =$900 + just to swap to the Vortec ~~~~ $900 + Building the engine ... Gotta think about that one... |

Unless I'm seeing it wrong ~ ~
Melling's Marine catalouge only offers the 96 and earlier flat tappet (Non roller) cam in counter rotation. |

Whitfield,Have a look at these Cloyes BY2534 Cam and BY2535 Crank you need to find out if there fit on a Vortec roller cam, can't be sure but the Vortec is different.Yes if you are thinking of going RH full vortec engine then its $$$ keep the cost down its old type block with vortec heads,or just go standard LH vortec engine and use the PCM 1.23 gearbox as the money you save on the rebuild gets you well on the way to a new box or a good rebuilt one and still have the prop going the right way.
