Unfortunately those are bringing pretty good money right now. Just a bit of information, look for one that is 2002-2003. The reason I say that is because there are shift solenoids in the 99-2001 that are prone to go bad. When the solenoids act up, bye bye trans. #1 cause of trans failure in that series of 4R100's. I am not telling you to stay away, but something to think about.
If you find one with under 100k, expect to pay 15k or more. They are in hot demand due to the 7.3. Don't be afraid to purchase one with 150k or more if they have done coolant services and trans services. Mine has 207k on it and runs like a champ. My torque converter is going south, but understandable with that many towing miles with a relatively stock trans. You are definitely looking for the right motor though. Don't be afraid of a 6.0 of the OASIS report shows the injectors, turbo, and EGR have been replaced. Definitely stay away from a 6.0 that has been chipped. Head gaskets are known issues due to fewer head bolts. You can get a really good deal on 6.0's right now. I would love to sell you mine, but I can't afford a $48k 2011 scorpion right now. Happy hunting man! |

Good info Todd . I am looking for a motor for my brothers 99. He threw a rod out the pan.He was telling me it has around 400,000 on it and he is actually looking for one with around 200,000. I am trying to talk him into another truck. I have noticed that the 6.0 trucks are going reasonable now. Is it just the head gaskets that are a problem with the 6.0.

Pat, If you can't find one at a reasonable price maybe this will help. I can send you one from FORD with a two year unlimited mileage warranty for $6200. No charge for the core as long as it is the same engine. If you need any info on it email me at partsil@suttonford.com. I don't want him to pay long money for a junkyard motor. John.
