It should be on a valve cover in a grommet. It will have a vacuum hose that goes to the carb base. Pull it out of the grommet and shake it. If it rattles, it is good.

They only cost about $3. If it's old, you might just want to replace it. Just take it with you to any auto parts store and they can match it up.
