Use a small drill bit (1/16")with your fingers and gently spin it upward at an angle into the pitot's pickup hole (end of the black thing under the boat) It will pull out any debris.

If you have a pressurized air source available just pull the tubing off of the pitot tube and blow air back through it (the pitot not the tube).

I've been using a drill bit for years, works every time and plenty of room for it in my glove box.

I keep a syringe with a small piece of rubber tubing on the end ( same size as what's attached to the pitot) and use water pressure to discharge the blockage.Works 98% of the time then just a small straightened fishhook to dig out any debris if backflushing didn't work. Worst case is I'm out of a $.03fishhook instead of a $2 drill bit.

A paper clip works well, too.

I have always used a safety pin. I keep one clipped to my keychain and can take it off and use it whenever needed and then put in back on.
