The hinges on my observers seat backrest broke the other day. The ones that allow the backrest to pivot upwards for access to underneath the bow.
So far I cant find a replacement set - so, does anyone have experience making their own? looks like a few small peices of angle and flat stock is all it would take? Anyone converted to a different style hinge? I'm thinking piano hinge to make it open gullwing style might be possible? Anyone tried? I havent looked at location yet but that would creat a larger opening for access and would be convenient if you could add a gas shock to hold it in the up position. |

Chris that hinge annoyed me that much that I removed it totally. Played around with a few ideas and came up with this setup. The seat back slides over in a tongue and grove type arrangement. This was the temporary setup until I tested if it worked OK. Have since replaced the timber with a more water proof item and recessed all the screws. It works well and you can remove the whole seat back to get access to the under bow storage.

looks like an easy option. Does it have enough support when installed?
