Does anyone use one of these? I'm curious but a little skeptical. Thanks.

most high end boats use them for the sole purpose of the owners dont like a bildge full of water, so yes, set it and forget it, they are the way to go.
they were originally deasigned for boats that had deep shaft logs and underway water couldnt get up there to cool the packing, thus along came the dripless which uses a carbon seal and water supply line |

The only concerns we have seem regarding switching to dripless would be checking that the dripless seal rides on a full shaft bore, not some part were it's wore out. you fix that with the lenght of the hose.
Also they like pretty well aligned boats and shafts. They are dripless until.... they are not. |
