I have a 1965 American Skier with 289 interceptor and the velvet drive Borg Warner tranny. Can anyone tell me the fluid capacity on this tranny? Also do you read the dipstick with engine running or off? I was also wondering what the 289 engine oil capacity was as well? The oil dipstick shows two full marks, one at level and one above 5 degrees. I would like to know how to properly read that.   Any response is really appreciated. Thank you.

Well, Where's Eric when you need him!

When I change mine, all I get back in it is around 1 quart.

If it's never been changed, it came with type A. This stuff is getting hard to find. I still use type A in mine, never switched it to dexron.
