My propeller shaft does not drip. I am wondering if this is tightened to tight, and would this cause a whining noise during acceleration. I have a 93 ski nautigue and would like to replace the packing, could you tell me what size I need. Thank you.

If you didn't just overnighted it, Leave it alone.
Mine hasn't dripped in 8 years,
The whining it likely the pcm transmission, its just what they do.

Joe,
I sort of agree with Tom about leaving it alone but, also feel you should have some drips. Is the packing gland running cool?

I will check the packing gland this weekend, but I will probably just leave everything alone. Thanks for the response.

Do stick your hand down there and check the temp. The danger with running the packing too tight is scouring the prop shaft to a point where it's no longer usable.
