Does anyone know if there is a difference between the marine and automobile plugs? For instance, I have the PCM 454 engine. It is supposed to have the AC MR43T plugs. Are they any different than the R43T plugs? Same thing with the Champion plugs. The RV8C are apparently the same plugs as the AC R43T plugs. The RV12C6 are apparently the same plugs as the MR43T plugs.

If you leave the plugs in for a long time then you may have problems removeing them due to corrosion and rust. The differences is the M or marine versions use stainless steel and the regular plugs are cold rolled steel so they rust. If you change plugs every season like I do and a lot of others then you won't have a problem but if you try and go beyond that you will have issues. Also sense you are looking at AC/DELCO plugs I would suggest the rapid fire series of plugs they have a stainless steel lug/body but they are not availible in all heat ranges so if they list one for your application I would use them.

I change mine every year before they rust too bad. Years ago, I had one cylinder shoot the ceramic part out of the metal part and scarying me to death.(what a sound!) I left the plugs in about 3 years, and before it happened, I heard an exhaust leak, but couldn't find it. I use regular auto plugs with the correct temp range.

I use auto plugs with anti-sieze on the threads. Corrosion is then a non-issue as a bit of surface rust on the outside of the plug is a non issue.
