Im ready to purchase a new boat cover, and have been reading all the previous forum posts on this topic. Im still coming up with a few questions though. Are there cover manufactures that take the trailer posts on the bow into consideration for a 89' SN? I'm leaning towards a sunbrella, yet none of the websites such as skiboatcovers.com talk about cutouts for this area. Am I missing something here? I'm being a bit impatient waiting for their email reply, so do any of you have specific covers built for this?
How often have you re-applied the water repellent to the sunbrella covers, or have you had any issues with the manufacturing quality? It kills me to spend $520 bucks on a cover without getting some opinions here. Thanks! |

i dont think you need cutouts at the bow.as for material i definitly recommend sunbrella,it breaths.that sharkskin stuff is garbage, promotes mold like crazy.spend the money on a good cover and spend less time cleaning mold.i have a guy down the street from me that would do it but you have to be patient,if you know what i mean.he did mine a few years ago fo $400,23ft supra.

If the boat is not under a shelter, expect the cover to last about 5 years. That's all I've ever got out of 3 or 4 brands I've tried.

Why the need for the cut outs?

Once upon a time, I think there was a bulk order organized through the site. Not sure what manufacturer was used or any other details really. Does this ring any bells?
If we were able to get a group buy discount going again, I would be in. |

I would skip the cutouts as well unless you trailer exclusively. Thats really the only downside on the CC/Ramlin trailers.
Stick with Sunbrella for breathability, moisture resistance and longetivity. If you tow a lot, consider a Coversports. If you just want a mooring cover, go with Angola or Skiboatcovers.com. |

yeah, no need for the cutouts. I've had 2 sunbrella covers from skiboatcovers.com. 1 is ~10 years old and should last a few more years. $520 is money well spent if you care about your boat.

As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure...

The cover is just going to be used for trailering and storage. I'm assuming it just gets wedged in between the rub rail and the trailer? I'll go with the sunbrella. I was looking at the "topgun" material from skiboatcovers.com, but consensus is that the sunbrella material is best. Have any of you guys ordered it in black and experienced fading? Order goes in tomorrow! Thanks |

Have never had the turnbuckle on any of the CC's or Nautique, but was under the impression the boat should not make contact with the boards, pads or rollers and that they are there as a contingency for hard braking when trailering. I may be wrong however.

if you loosen the turnbuckle a bit, it's easy to get the cover in between. the 10+ year old sunbrella cover i mentioned above is black and still looks black.

Thanks everyone. Ordering the sunbrella in black and it looks like the boat needs to slide back on the trailer a 1/2 inch or so.

I ordered mine form skiboat covers a few years ago in sharkslin material. I've never had a problem with mold or mildew like some of these guys are talkign about. Mine is kept in a covered slip during the summer and stored in a garage during winter.
I did opt for the cutouts on the bow and wish I hadnt. |

Ordered a black Sunbrella for my '92 Barefoot at Angola Canvas two years ago.
Looks still as new, good fit, much lighter than cotton, breaths. Highly recommended. |

Wow, that is easily $100 more expensive than the comparable covers from Angola and Skiboatcovers (sunbrella). I'd be expecting a waterline cover for that price!
