I have a 95 sN and DHM trailer in great condition except the rotted wood on trailer steps. Any advice on possibly putting metal in there with diamond plate over it like the new ones or is it easy to just plop new wood in there?

Don,
I'd say there at least 3 members who have gone through a couple different methods of replacing the rust rot problem. I feel the biggest problem is the use of ply covered with carpet trapping the water and also to the steel on the trailer frame. The easy DIY is to pull the old and replace it with some decent CPES treated ply with carpet on it?? |

Diamond plate can be pretty expensive, not sure I would spring for it again. Maybe consider ply, coated with home made CPES, router the visible edges, then paint top side with antiskid.
I don't like the carpet because it starts rust on the metal frames. |

I went the diamond plate route. Prior to this decision I was considering a material similar to a toilet partition that would permit routing in grooves for water drainage / non skid and the ability to round over the edges. I am done with the plywood & carpet option.
