I'm new to Wakeboarding boats. We just bought a 2008 Super Air Nautique 210. The boat is awesome! However there is one concern, the boat is a little squirly when coming off plane. I've never owned anything other than an I/O prior to this boat and I've been told there is going to be a learning curve but is it normal for the boat to try to turn abruptly to port when coming off plane?

No, I would say that is not normal. Do you have any play in the steering? Maybe you rudder is bent.

Kevin,
I notice you aren't getting much action on your question. I totally agree with Chris on this one - check for slack in the steering system fore to aft. However, I must ask, does the abrupt direction change coming "off" plane (slowing down) or coming "on" plane (speeding up)?? Ether way, it still may be slack in the system that needs attending to. Also, check to see how your trim tab is set on the rudder. If set too aggressive, it could be a problem too. Lot's happens when a hull comes out of or back into the water.

Damn, I hope you haven't already gotten an answer over at that other damn site PN!!!!

Kevin, please check your bilge pump is working correctly and that your shaft and rudder logs are not leaking too much. A few inches of water in the bilge when you cut the throttle will make the boat bow-steer and head dive.

Most likely the tunable rudder needs to be adjusted. There is a section of your rudder which is adjustable or "tunable", loosen the screw and make slight adjustments then test drive. If pulling to port the movable section most likely will need to be adjusted in that same direction.
