Today was one of the worst days in my life! a storm reared it,s ugly head yesterday at 3pm, keeping us linemen stuck to work the 16 hr shift. this morning after arriving at work at 8am we were informed that one of are brothers was just hit by a car, thay worked the afternoon shift. he was behind the truck when he was hit by a car and pinned between the car and the rear douls of the bucket, pushed thru the step bumper on one side. he survived the chopper ride,the rest God has to tell. we will miss him deeply!

Sorry to hear of your loss Jeff. That was the one thing I always worried about the most,everything else you kinda felt was more or less under your control.

when working in the roadway like us guys..in all types of weather..its bound to happen. These drivers pay little or no attention to warning devices. Job site safety...so sorry for your loss Jeff...on to the prayer list you, your crew and the family go.

I spent some time on the roadsides in my paramedic cays. Too many close calls, I think we all realize that there but for the grace of God goes us. Sorry for the loss.

Jeff, sorry for loss. This hits close to home for me as my father is also a lineman. He has moved away from the street as a safety trainer and accident investigator for Electricities in NC. We have a lot of friends and family in the field.
I also work on the streets in those same conditions as a career and volunteer firefighter, from our fire department family to your lineman family...our deepest sympathies. Allen |

That is a tragic loss.
It seems that so many people acknowledge the brave acts of our soldiers, firefighters, and police, but fail to recognize the dedication and dangers that those in the private sector who work to provide us with power, telephone, roads and other services face every day. Hopefully this loss will convince at least some drivers to respect life, drive slowly, and use caution around workers. |
