So I read in the paper today that Obama, Barroso and Van Rompuy are working on what they call the biggest economical deal ever...
The plan is to create a free market zone between the US and Europe. I for one am happy with this idea. It will make it easier and cheaper to get the parts I need for my boat! Not having to pay extra taxes and customs anymore Your thoughts on this? |

- Gun control means: using BOTH hands!
- Money doesn't make one happy, but when it rains cats and dogs, it's still better to cry in a Porsche than on a bicycle... |

Kristof, Australia has had a free trade agreement with the US for a number of years now. There is no import duty or extra taxes on US manufactured and sourced goods. Our standard GST (Goods and Services Tax) still applies this a 10% nationwide tax on all purchases and is included on all advertised prices unlike the US and Canada.
Most Internet purchases sneak through without this but our retailers our now lobbying the Government to apply it to all Internet purchases. This will help local retailer's remain competitive with overseas sellers. |
