So does anyone know where I might be able to find replacement glass for my walk thru windshield door? I was replacing the latches and the screw was too long . The windshield is a Taylormade, and the frame appears to have a slight bend. My glass guy said a flat piece most likely wont work, but he could put a piece of polycrylic (sp?) in there. What would you do? I am guessing this may end up being a costly mistake. I called my local dealer and left messages at nautique parts, n3 boat works, and Taylormade.

Thanks,

Kyle

$5 says its a flat piece of glass that simply bends slightly once installed.

Yeh Tim, I think that's a $30 risk I'm willing to take just to find out. If it doesnt work and If I have to go acrylic, think anyone but me would notice?

You can see the difference with acrylic and it scratches more easily... So stick with glass if you can. All of the flat single pane windshields from the early 80's and early 90's were flat glass installed with a slight bend. I'd be amazed if yours wasn't flat as well.

On my 94 the glass is all flat, every single piece.

Last summer I tinted them.   When I took them apart I thought reassembly would be easy because of the bend they had. Nope, they were all flat.

Still easy to reassemble, except for peeling the newly installed trim with the tight fit because of the bend.    I should have painted it while it was apart.

Kyle,
I'd find a new glass shop if he thinks the glass won't bend.

I'm taking the chance that the $30 flat piece of 1/8" tempered glass will fit and adjust to the slight contour of the frame. I had him order the size I need, and if need be, I'll put it in. Can't be that hard. I don't even want to call taylormade to see how much an OEM replacement would be.
