I think I am about ready to splash the Mustang and want to pull a skier. What actually holds the ski pole in place? Looking through the hole in the floor, I just see a metal cup mounted to the hull. I have a pin that clips through the ski pole and holds it in place, but is the floor supposed to provide support too?
If I shake the ski pole when mounted it wiggles around a good bit and it seems maybe a cross member is loose? Thanks for any info! |

Hi Bill, here is a picture of my floor when it was out,you can see it's a 2x12 mounted into the stringers. It has a hole that the pylon mounts tightly thru and into that cup in the hull bottom. When I pulled the pylon out a couple of years ago to paint it I had to use a come a long connected to my garage celing beam to get it out,it fit that tight.

The bottom plate is a steel cup that's glassed to the hull and definitely wont move. IF your pylon is moving around this means 1 or 2 things.
Your bolt is rusted and is near shear failure or the holes that were machine out to fit the bolts have been rounded out from time from the tension the skier put on them. I'd try to figure out a way down there to get a visual, last thing you want it you plyon popping loose while pulling a skier. |

Thank you for the picture and info. I looked up under the deck, by sticking my head down in the bilge. I think the 2x12 has broken loose from the stringers.
I may try and shoot some long SS screws through the deck and anchor it back down. If this doesn't work, I will just run out the rest of this tank of gas. I will have to forget about using it this season and go ahead and get started on deck and foam removal. Kind of stinks,the rear mounting eye is loose also and this boat is so much fun. But I want to ski!! People stop at the gas station and the boat ramp and just love it. I was hoping to get the rest of the season before teardown. Oh well, I have been watching all of friscoboaters CVX-18 restoration from iboats.com and feel a lot less apprehensive about stringer replacement. |

If your lift rings are loose thats a good thing because they are not made for side loads,you could ruin the deck.
As to stringers do a search here there has been more Correct Craft stringers replaced here than any other forum.Here is one just on things learned. |
