Looks good Kevin - Did you order new Rub rail? I really need to replace mine and worried its gonna be a PITA. Couldn't find an exact match and couldn't find the insert in blue.

I have the rub rail from the purple boat. It is useable, but not perfect. The colored inserts are no longer available, so you have to go with black if yours is too beat up (my blue one definitely fit into this category). If all you need is the insert my research has found that Amazon.com has the best prices.

I was talking to somebody on the phone recently who suggested that I look into using blue-colored rope. All you'd have to do is find some blue rope that is roughly 5/8ths diameter and shove it in there. I think it might look pretty good - sort of a mix of old school 2001 style and the more modern colored rub rail inserts. We will see! I need to get the boat back and do some polishing before I put the rub rail on and get ready for that water test.

And yes - I can hardly wait for the water test!!!!!

Try Rit dye , do it on the stove top for dark colors.
