I noticed my 6.5 GM diesel oil pressure being on the low side (35 at cruising and 20 at idle) several thousand miles ago. I brought this up with my mechanic and he just told me not to worry until it dropped almost to 0 at idle. (I have 260K on the truck) I even asked him if he was using the 15-40. Anyway since I changed jobs, I have been going to a NAPA service center. They only use Roetella. WOW, what a difference!! 50 PSI cruising and 30 at idle!! FYI!! It seems like the Rostella has got a great viscosity package it it!

Chris,
Sorry but I never asked him the brand = I just asked him if he was using a 15-40 diesel rated oil after I noticed the low pressure when the engine was warmed up. If I go past him, I'll stop and ask. BTW, I really liked him as I thought he was a great mechanic. The guy at the NAPA is great as well. |

Sounds like it needs a shaft alignment and a good old fashion lapping!
No but really I have always used Rotella. The boat runs 10w-30 20psi idle and 55 wot. Always used Rotella in our 96 Dodge Cummins that had 400k on her when it was sold still running like a champ. Rotella also has its own specific smell I have noticed compared to other oils. |
