Strut bushings

So my new to me 1987 Ski Nautique needs a little maintenance, there is some slop in the strut bushing.
I dropped the rudder, un did the coupler, pressed out the shaft and removed it.
Everything look to be in good shape and I think that it's never been apart, the safety wire was still on and the coupling needed some serious encouragement to split. The packing is definitely spent on both the shaft and the rudder. Oh and the boat has 1004 hours on it.

So my question is...
The strut has S-19 stamped on it and the area the shaft passes thru is 6 7/16" long
The brass and rubber bushing is 6" long
My new XPC Vesconite bushings are 2 piece and a total of 4"

So... After I remove the original bushing do these 2 get pressed in from either end with a space in the middle? Or do I need to get a 3 rd bushing to make the new bushings the same length as the old?
