Background on my boat. I had a few spots where the gel coat was completely rubbed through as well as some stress cracks from old age/rough boating. I really wanted to change the stripe from maroon to blue so the project began. I bought some interlux paint rolled and tipped first coat yesterday. Now my question is can I leave the masking tape on until I get the next coat on next Sat or remove it and attempt to re tape the exact line?

Matt,
The time before you need to remove the masking tape really depends on what type you used. What did you use? However, I like to remove the masking before the paint fully cures. When the paint dries, sometimes the tape will not come off cleanly leaving a sharp clean paint line. BTW, I happen to love 3M's fine line tape. |
