I am planning on upgrading the power wire to the ignition this weekend. I upgraded the ground wire last summer. Should have done the power wire at the same time... Significant gauge improvement. However, still have the occasional "dead" no response when turning the key. No rhyme or reason. After several key turns it will eventually turn the starter. A few questions before I proceed. 1) Am I to run the new wire from the protected side of main circuit breaker on engine? Or,is there a better option? 2) Should I/Do I need to run the new wire to and install a circuit breaker behind the dash for connecting the ignition wire? Or, run the new wire to a buss bar? If there are any better recommendations please feel free to comment. Thanks in advance!

This may be kind of a separate issue. Could be your key switch, solenoid or starter. The new positive wire couldn't hurt though.

It depends, does yours have a push-button ignition breaker on the dash as well as key? Or just a key? If you have the breaker, go to the input side of the breaker. You basically just want your new positive to go to the same place (piggy backed) as the old positive went too.

It's a wee bit more complicated on the positive side. You can't just do a buss the same way because everything would be on all the time. You could make a buss that is connected to the output side of the breaker or key though.

A pic of the back side of your dash might help with that.
