I have decided to part out my 1976 Southwind due to hull damage. However, the Ford Windsor engine, and Velvet Drive C71 are in great shape, and run very strong. I rebuilt the motor in 2009 and put in a new cam, rings, and bearings. Does not smoke, or leak oil. Rebuilt Holley 4160 runs nice and smooth.
Can send pictures. Will include pictures here ASAP! $1100 obo |

Alan...long story short, coupler failed. Shaft came out and rammed into rudder during a fast stop. Torque twisted strut, and broke fiberglass. Nice little leak in bottom. Look further down in the Parts for Sale section on Southwind for sale. More details there.

There's a guy who lives down the river from me who has a red/white Nautique Super Sport that he bought at N3. He told me I could use his boat anytime I want. He will have it gassed up, check the coupler, and waiting at the dock for me.

As I have told several people, no new boats planned for me until I have my own place on the lake, and the boat is parked at the dock, and ready to go. Famous last words. I will probably have a new project within two weeks. IF I were to get another boat, I would probably get an early ('82-86) Ski Nautique 2001. But, I would miss the SW in the rough waters I normally go to. |

Oh man... Dave sorry to hear that. I loved the character of your boat and glad Tom let me have a quick chance to pilot it at GL last year. I have to say though that if you get a SN it'll be easier to ski behind than the Southwind. Dat wake! I still remember how the break at the lip just sucked the ski right off of my foot, haha.
Good Luck finding a sweet new ride ASAP. |
