I owned a 94' Sport Nautique. Bought new and still looks new. Only 140 hours. Has worked great up to summer 05'. I started having problems with fuel leaking as it enters the EFI TBI. Placed in the shop immediately and was told the problem had been corrected. We'll guess what? It wasn't fixed. Yesterday, 5/6/06, the EFI TBI still throws fuel at entry and completely covering the entire manifold. Motor ran rough. Had to shut down. Lot's of disappointed kids. Does anyone know the problem? I was told to remove the EFI TBI and replace it with Holley Carbureator. Help?

Is your boat powered by a GM based engine? If so loosen the fuel line going into the TBI unit and replace the O-ring seal. Don't just use any rubber O-ring to replace it,...make sure you get the correct seal from GM or the marine dealership. Also, you could have a problem with the fuel pressure regulator (located at the entry point of the fuel line) on the TBI. If you get a TBI rebuild kit the regulator is part of that. Fuel pressure is regulated at approx. 13 PSI on GM TBIs.

Your engine uses a Holley TBI unit. Go to Holley's website for replacement parts related to the TBI unit. All other sensors are GM.
I suspect that the FPR is a GM unit as well (like nutty... said). It could be that the FPR is cracked from over tightening of the fuel line. Take a look for yourself and see if you can determine where the leak is coming from and go from there. FWIW: Sincy you have the TBI unit along with the Protec engine management system, PCM WILL sell you parts for both systems to keep it running. PCM is hoarding NOS parts for both the TBI and Protec exclusively for TBI owners. |
