pro tech ignition installation help

hello everybody,
i am new to these forums and am seeking some guidance.

i am in the middle of repairing a 92 pcm 5.8 and it is equipped with pro tec ignition system.
i marked the distributor to the engine block, but i did not mark the "rotor, or "hat" to the body of the distributor.

i am having to assemble the engine this weekend and am confused as to how i go about positioning the "rotor" or "hat" of the distributor. it has 8 fins that point down (representing the 8 cylinders i assume)

once i put cylinder 1 at TDC, what position does the rotor go?

i have the heads off btw.
