I have my 83 upside down on the trailer. ground out that billion blisters and filled with vinyl ester resin and cabosil.   i tried my hand at spraying Gel Coat and did ok for the first try.   bought 2 guns a 2.0 and 2.3. found 2.3 to be the one to use. However forgot to set the pressure and was painting slowly at about 10lbs.   3/4 the way through if figured it out and turned to 35 and it went down fast and smooth.   Had love bug issue and many got in the coating.   Due to heavy orange peal from initial spray i did wet sand with 220 using DA.   it made the bottom glass smooth. I plan to hit it again this week once i get more material.   I believe i can get a nearly perfect coating.   Will gel the fist 10" of the sides from bottom edge and feather it off. plan to paint the color part with a good quality automotive paint.   Will also do this while upside down.

So after the learning curve i am comfortable putting the stuff down and keeping gun clean and confident with finishing with wet sand and buff.   Not nearly as hard as anticipated. Glad i could practice on the bottom.

Got from norther tools.   Im also using a pre waxed and pre thinned resin. I got it from correct craft factory, friend works there. Sprays pretty nice.

Had the gelcoat for about a month so i did thin 3% with acitone, helped it flow better.   It has a 90 day shelf life.   Im storing in my house in a half bath with exhaust fan running.

I also found that by mixing smaller batches and running a cup full of acitone through the gun between batches that gun stays clean.   Use re cycled stuff for the in between cleaning then clean stuff for final clean.   Got a good system going.

I could part with my 2.0 gun. paid 80 for it

Joe this is the one I used on the Mustang parts. I believe I saw them on ebay for around $40. I painted the Shamrock with it too without a nozzle change.
