I'm new to the direct drive boats and have a 2015 g23 nautique. How do I winterize it?

Mark,
Welcome to CCfan. About half way down the page in this thread, there's some comments on winterizing with a closed cooling system. How about posting some pictures? A diary entry would be great too. |

Mark,
You are more than welcome here, in fact you are encouraged to hang around and experience the fun and pleasure of vintage boats, but there is not a single G boat within our ranks. If you are not familiar with PlanetNautique.com, there are like a jillion G's over there. |

While many here will howl at my suggestion, I'd consider taking to your dealer. You've likely spent in excess of $100K on your boat and seeing that you are new to v-drive boats (a G-series is not a direct drive by the way). the dealer is your best friend. You will probably want to change the oil and filter while you are at it. You didn't say how many hours were on it so depending on that number there may be some other maintenance tasks as well. . Buddy up to your dealer and get some pointers on winterizing so you can do it yourself next year. If you can turn a wrench it is not difficult. Not to be hard on you, but given your lack of understanding between a direct drive and a v-drive I'd say you might be over your head doing it yourself. |

I agree. While it is quite admirable that you wish to do it yourself, the investment you have made on the G is maybe 20 times the value of most boats on this site, and in fact worth probably a considerable portion of the value of many of our homes. Warranty is meaningless to most of us, but if I were to drop 6 plus figures on a boat....#1 it would mean I wouldn't ever have to (or want to) pick up a tool, and #2 I'd never consider doing so if it meant I could ever create a warranty issue by non-compliance on such an enormous investment. Curious, what is the warranty on a new boat? That being said, I've been calling the Chrysler Warranty Department on my 75 for decades but they don't answer the phone....does anyone have a better phone number? |
