compounding questions

Gentlemen, hope everyone is doing well...looking forward to seeing you all at White Lake. I have a few questions re compounding. To lead off, yes I have read countless threads on the subject on CCF and offsite. I have a Cyclo and white wool light cutting pads. I also already own Meguiars 67 One step compound. Yesterday I did a test spot on my boat from the guide pole to the P in Sport. Pics below are before and after.





Most of the oxidation went away however I find that the Meguiars 67 has oils/silicone in it that leaves the boat looking good for a short time and then hazy again soon. The 67 did not cut all of the oxidation and I went over it multiple times with good force.

My questions are:

Should I get a heavier compound before wet sanding specific spots?

Should I get the medium cut yellow wool pads for the cyclo for the heavier compound? (note that I can't seem to find heavy cut wool pads for the cyclo.)

Is the cyclo pointless due to it being a DA and not rotary?

I am looking at 3M super duty that is recommended by many and medium cut pads.

Is the 3M marine rubbing compound the same as the super duty? I ask bc it comes in a smaller size which is all I need.

Any thoughts on the Meguiars 91?...their site says it has similar cut to the 3M super duty.

My hope is to use the cyclo bc it is free. Use a heavy compound. Follow with the 67 since I have it. And follow that with a suggested wax and polishing pads on the cyclo or by hand.

Ok, let me have it. Im sure I'll get a mixed bag of responses but I am trying to accomplish this using what I have and spending as little as possible on new tools. I understand that the best way would be to get all 3M products and a nice rotary, but that would be much more expensive.

I have one of these you can borrow if you like

Harbor Freight rotary and 3 pads/3 compounds is probably less than 100.00 total and when you're done you could sell the whole kit to somebody else on CCFAN.

Thanks so much Greg. I will take you up on your offer. Ill grab some 3m super duty and a wool pad and be off to the races. I'll follow that with the meguiars 67 since I have it and then wax.   If anyone sees holes in my plan please let me know.

Now all I need is for the weather to warm up just a little and some time. Kids make projects tough! Ha.
