Pete should snap this thing up. 1-House should be almost done 2- not going to get any warmer up there anytime soon. 3- needs to break the shop in with a Correct Craft restoration 4- last but not least another boat in the fleet will cut down on the hours the others rack up ,in all a win win for both parties

There are 40 something 1st gens in the diaries, out of which I count 8 split cockpit boats... that makes them rarer than the lauded orange promos, last I counted. While not all boats can be saved, some are worth a little more effort to do so than others. That includes advocating for someone to save them, even when you can't do so yourself- so don't take any of this ribbing personally, Steve.

I have been on both ends of the "free boat" gift, or at least attempted gift... so while my barn and project list are already too full/long to take this one on (even at $0), my recommendation would be to take what you need from it, but perhaps avoid massive surgery to remove minor parts in hopes that *someone* might take the hull off your hands. It'd save you the hull disposal fee in any case... and delay the scrapping of a rare boat, with any luck.

I agree. I'll hang on to it until it's clear no one has interest - or Val tells me I have too many projects. Hahahaha

There's a 66 Skylark, left hand drive, posted in the Craigslist thread. Maybe someone could snatch it up and preserve it.

Only pistons will remain untouched   All new electrical wiring, exhaust, starter rebuilt, Sherwood d-60, original afb CARTER 3180, rebuilt. All old foam out, new floor. Gonna be a beauty

I have a nice 1965 Nautique Hull # sn 1420. She is original with rebuilt Ford 312 police interceptor engine. Will attempt to post photo. She is garage kept and runs on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.

Dan,
Very nice and certainly a welcome addition to the roster.

What makes your 312 a "police"? Have you done some modifications to the Y block when it was rebuilt?

Yes, more would be great.

To what extent was the engine rebuilt? Mine is still running strong but one of these days I will need to pull it.

I found the boat on Lake Hartwell owned by a couple that we bowled with they use it to pull their kids skiing when they were going through skiing classes the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner it was balanced and all new bearings the only thing he didn’t do correctly was the rings. since then I have pulled the engine back out to get to a top-notch mechanic who checked it out and he replaced the rings. he said that the engine was in excellent shape. I will post more pictures

Did they use the same hull design up to about '68?

I think this is what your looking for- it was used on the 2 piece glass Taylor Made windshields but most likely used on all of theirs across the range. Do a search you might find it cheaper.  http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Products-826500-White-Windshield/dp/B000XBBCXK?ref_=ast_sto_dp

Doing a quick google search - Taylor Made Products 826500 white deck vinyl I see it way less with other vendors
