What a story, Ali do you have any thoughts on what you would like to do with the boat? Sure would be great to see it capture all the attention it deserves.

I am aware of a 1980 that is already in a museum.

Just saying.

That 79 does look like an interesting boat.

Nice boat- great story
So what kind of skiing are you going to use it for? Are you going to put a tower on it?

Ali, Did you ever meet Mr. Ralph Meloon? Your father must have known him? IIRC Mr. Ralph spoke of trying to develop business in Iran and meeting the Sha in one of his talks about the history of Correct Craft.

Hi Guys, I see a lot of interest from every one on how I found this boat and the story behind it. The fact is that my dad was the distributor for Correct Craft in Iran before the revolution. We had ordered this boat from the factory, tried to cancel it because of the unrest but it was too late and the ship had already sailed.

As a result around fall of 1979 the boat arrived and it's been sitting in our warehouse ever since. Every time I came back for a visit and see this boat I want to know what is the best way to preserve it and make sure it is in perfect running shape. To address the concern some of you guys had about recreational use of this boat, let me say that I've been skiing and been around boats for about 50 years and I know how valuable this boat is to people who have passion and love the sport.

Also to answer some of your questions I should note that the climate is pretty dry here and the boat is in great shape, It has a Ford / Commander engine and every thing is factory installed and original. I'm not a mechanic but I think some of the hoses or the rubber parts have to be checked and/or replaced prior to turning the boat on, however, if some one can really provide expert technical advise I would gladly take it into consideration.

Please let me know if you guys have any other questions or need additional information. I thank every one for the their time and interest and look forward to your replies.

So the boat is currently in the middle east somewhere?

Would you consider selling the boat?

Today I started my computer and saw the CCF link. I thought to myself, "There is probably nothing super-new or interesting going on at CCF, but I'll go have a look..."

WOW!!!! What an amazing story.

Ali - are you going to be the one doing the work? Can you take a current photo and post it here? If this thing has not been touched for almost four decades we would all LOVE it if you could please take photos of everything! Gas tank, engine, dashboard, under the dash, seats, running gear, etc.... If you are going to start using it please document the original condition as much as possible for the sake of history. Post those photos here and we can all grow in our knowledge of these beautiful machines.

A few have already suggested what to do first:

1. Is there fuel in the tank and lines? If so, you need to flush it all and dispose of that old gas. Pull the dipstick and look at the oil. It will need to be drained and replaced. I'd do the oil filter too since the gasket is likely very dry.

2. Pull the spark plugs, get a breaker bar and slowly rotate the engine. Turn it a few revolutions and if there is any resistance you will need to check that out.

Do these things and report back to us what you find. If the engine rotates freely we can move on to the next items of concern (rubber parts will be a concern).

I have to say, contact Correct Craft or an affiliate and see if they are interested in this boat. Just to cool to start up and use. And a Commander to boot! Love Commanders. You can be a "better" boat for less than somebody is willing to give you for that 79 no doubt.

If it was me, after 38 years of non use I'd look at continuing that and preserving the boat. Simply because it truly may be one of a kind at this point.

Kind of like buying a classic car with 100 miles on it and deciding to drive it cross country. Yes, fun to put it through it's paces as a daily driver, but the uniqueness and value are destroyed. Just my 2 cents.

Holy mother of correct craft, what a gem, I have to completely put my backing behind the idea of posting a picture of at last every single angle for people (such as myself) to just appreciate and use as a model for their own rebuilds! What an awesome boat.
If it floats, flys or ***************s, rent it.
