Hello, New to the site. Just purchased a 1988 Ski Nautique 2001 - a boat I learned to ski on and have wanted for 25 years. Very low hours, fresh oil and passed the purchase inspection nicely. When I turn the ignition key - not turn it over just turn the key - the dash alarm goes off and my voltage light flickers. Once I start the boat and engage into gear it goes away. Any thoughts? Grunjr.

Welcome to CCFan Hank and Correct Craft ownership. You've got a great boat on your hands as if you can ski behind a 2001 model.... you can ski behind ANYTHING! Be sure to fill out a Diaries form and get some pictures up of your low hour purchase. My 88' was my first CC and have had it for 17 years.
The dash alarm goes off when you first turn the key to let you know that the system is working properly. High engine temp or low oil pressure will trigger the alarm. I'm surprised yours still works. I disconnected the horn from mine as at idle it chirped all the time especially in rough water. It became too annoying for my taste but I do keep a watchful eye on the gauges while I'm running it. You're good! |

Hank, As Tim mentioned above, the alarm is for low oil pressure or high temp. Without the engine running, you have no oil pressure so that triggers the alarm. Also without the engine running, the alternator isn't putting out any power so the voltage warning light is triggered. I too welcome you to CCfan. I think you will find it to be a fantastic site as many have. |

Thanks all and I will get photos up soon. I started skiing - seriously - on Chautauqua Lake in the 1980's behind a 2001 and fell in love with it. Always wanted one and now I have one. I was thinking about disconnecting the alarm. I am very conscious about gauges so am not worried about being notified.
I do need to find a new dash panel as the previous owner hacked a hole in it to put a radio in it - UGH!! But finding and replacing it is part of the fun. Thanks again. H |

Consider just disconnecting the beeper by pulling one lead off a connection. If you have a failing system the indicator lights should draw your attention to it. The previous owner did the same radio install on mine and I actually like it. Not overly crazy with speakers and amps but just a radio to listen too while chilling out in a quiet cove with the ski crew or when crusing the lake with you sweetie and the kids. They'll appreciate it to as my radio is taken over by the kids jams on their phones and they've introduced me to some decent new music. It's great family time in the boat usually enjoyed by all. |

Hi,
If you need a replacement dash, try these guys. https://newwiremarine.com/ They just did a custom panel for me and i am 100% satisfied. I had to draw one up for them so i'm sure they still have it on file. If you PM me, i'll give you the reference #. Mine has a hole for a radio, but all you have to do is tell them to leave it off.
