Last week I was pulling my neighbors son on his wakeboard and the boat started missing then quit. A few days later it started it again when I was wakeboarding. So I thought it was time to rebuild the carb, so I did and no improvement. Then it knocked off and wouldn't run. So I started checking everything, I even replaced the coil. Then I discovered the cap had two cracks and a pinhole.

my neighbor has a hurricane deck boat with a
4.3 w/40 hrs. on it, its a 04. however his was doing the same thing they pulled the cap off and the contacts had 1/8 in of green growth on them. why would a mrine cap have a paper gasket on it? changed cap runs fine. |

Paper gasket makes the unit a marine unit...seals off the cap from fuel vapor (or contains the spark which way you perfer to look at it).

The gasket isn't all, the posts are brass.
