Where could I go to find out what my Compact Skier, 1961 should weigh?
I have an overhead hoist that I want to lift it with ,that is rated maxed at 1300 lbs and dont want to press it's real rating, especially due to it being supported with 5 wood trusses in my shop. I want to lift back half in order to install bunks on the trailer in place of rollers, then the same in the front half. And as well, repaint the bottom while I am at it.. Thanks T |

Tom,
I took a look in the reference section and couldn't find any listing of the weight. I'd say without the engine, you would not have a problem using the 1300 lb. hoist. With the engine in it, I feel you would be pushing that 1300 lbs. My main concern is you using the trusses. Trusses are NOT designed for much loading on their bottom cord especially point loading. They typically can only handle even loading for drywall and insulation. I highly recommend you contact the manufacturer of the trusses BEFORE you attempt any lift. |

I am beginning to agree, with out knowing the exact weight it could get a bit precarious.
I have used the hoist to pull and install sbc's in trucks but I knew the exact weights. These are structually engineered trusses, rated for 30# per sq ft and a 4x4 spanning 5 trusses but even so there is a concern. I guess I will just do it the old way and jack it up off the traiter and block it in place. Thanks, T |

That 30lb is the top cord NOT the bottom cord!!! FYI, Those are pretty flimsy trusses. Up here in snow country, the minimum is 60 and most truss manufacturers go to 80 lbs.

Well, actually I bet I was wrong about the load rating. I am in Spokane Wa, and we too are in snow country, so I bet these are rated similarly. We built the shop 10 years ago and had the entire building approved by county building inspectors. I was trying to go by my 77 year old memory...
