I have been reading and doing a ton of research on getting more hp/tq out of the 351. Here is seems like the go to is/was GT40Ps, intake, cam. Im guessing 5-10 years ago the GT40Ps were cheaper, but looking now they seem to be about 1k for a pair. At that point I would think I would be better off getting a set of AL heads and add roller rockers for 2-300 more.
I have also read concerns of iron block with AL heads, but im not sure i really believe that is an issue with modern gaskets and studs. Overall, what is everyone's opinion? Am i wasting money going with AL heads or is the performance and weight savings worth it. I dont have a problem spending the few hundred more, but if it is a waste I wont. Also, I boat at 5k feet so i have to overbuild a little due to hp loss at elevation |

You're lookin for heads in all the wrong placed then
![]() Around here on CCF, we're mostly pretty cheap and for a thousand bucks you can buy 4 rebuilt heads and have a couple of spares. Here's an EBAY link that you can sort through for rebuilt GT40P heads link |

And this link below talks about drilling the bolt holes to 17/32 of an inch for a 351 application or having the place you get them do it for you

So looking through those i will refine my guess and say closer to $600 for a pair. Could go cheaper and hope to get lucky.
So are you basically saying that going to AL heads isnt worth the extra 600 for the benefits I will gain, or saying the majority just dont spend the money, but the performance would be worth the money? |

Why not call a local machine shop and tell them what you are looking for, they can probably have a set for you in 2-4 days with zero freight if you will call them.
