Hello to All, my first post to the forum. I am going to look at a boat this week here in Ohio. My main concern is what I can’t see. What is the best way to determine the soundness of the stringers. Can I see enough of them by lifting the motor box? The current owner said he replaced the foam a numbers of years ago. Do these boats leak? I have already redone a whaler and century but didn’t have to deal with the stringers. Is the foam necessary? My Century doesn’t have any. Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. There is a hammer test, search for that.
If the stringers haven't been replaced & you are going to keep the boat, I'd cost in their eventual replacement into your budget. It is just a matter of time. |
