What do you mean by renovation? In most cases major work on old boats has to be a labor of love. The cost to pay a professional will far exceed the value of the boat.

Yes, we need to know more as to your intents. ![]() Renovate: "to restore to good condition; make new or as if new again; repair. to reinvigorate; refresh; revive" |

Whatever you describe as “renovate”, unless you mean new upholstery you are already up$ide down and screwed around here.

There is a guy on here in Texas. See the longhorn thread.
Your gonna need to do disassembly and reassembly yourself and send everything out to a pro. Maybe longhorn needs another project |

I understand and appreciate everyone's advice. I am not looking for a complete as new restoration. Really just need to get it running and cleaned up as much as possible without dumping a bunch of money into it. '
What I really need is someone to tune up the motor which is an original reverse rotating 351W. Also hopefully the same person can go through the entire drive train and get everything ready to operate. A place I can bring the seats to be reupholstered. Also a place I could get some of the vintage parts and pieces. I have a few soft spots in the floor but I can replace that. Need to build the back seat back again. Will probably ly put sea deck on floors instead of carpet and it is ready to work. If you nave any advice on mechanics or redoing the seats it would be greatly appreciated. Boat has been in family for over 30 years. Have to keep it going |

Chances are high that the soft spots in the sole go deeper into the stringers. How about posting some pictures so we get a better idea of what you have and need? |

I agree. My boat is a lot newer and just had a small soft spot behind the seat. Once I got in there I realized that my stringers were trash. Who would've known!?! |

I hate to burst your bubble but. Let me break it down for you . If you do all the work yourself you can expect between 1000 and 2000 to do the wood only on stringers , floor and seats. Another 200-300 in carpet even more if you use sea deck. another 1500-3000 to reupholster the seats and vinyl trim. Assuming nothing major is wrong with the engine and drive train figure 300 to 500 to make it run. Not to mention the trailer, gauges and accessorizes. So to recap figure 3000 to 3500 to start in materials only. To have someone do the work multiply by 3-4. This is a 42 year old boat done if its nice you might get 4-6000 for it.

That’s probably about right. I think I spent around $1800 on supplies for the stringer job. That was me doing all of the work and not counting the new grinder after my first one caught on fire. Lol. I did find a guy to do my Upholstry for $2500 but I wasn’t sure concerned about it looking factory. He did a great job though! I think I lucked out on that one. Luckily my motor has held up good besides a carb rebuild that I think I spent $80 on parts. I also changed the steering cable and repacked the rudder assembly. Other than that just maintaining everything like impeller, oil, etc. I did have to change the water pump but that’s just normal issues. These things are amazing boats but not cheap to redo. |

What are you actually looking for?
Nothing is cheap to redo - not cars, motorcycles, houses, airplanes, boob jobs or even Steve Austin the 6 million dollar man- he is now 35 million |

Compared to airplanes most of those things are pretty cheap. Lol. We’re getting a new motor in our 182 right now! 30,000 for just the block!! Haven’t gotten the install bill yet. |
