Looking for some suggestions on a good gas caddy. Something in the 15 gallon range. I see a lot of them out there but I'm skeptical on the quality based on the reviews. Many thanks!
ps: will update my diary....used to be " '92NIQUE"...still have the 92 SNOB.

I have an early version of this caddy that I purchased at least 20 years ago.
Mine didn't come with the fancy nozzle but rather just a basic ball valve on the included short hose. I modified mine with cam lock hose couplings and 50 ft. of fuel rated vinyl tubing. I just roll it to the top of my hill, hook up the tubing and fill the boats by gravity. Still working great.

+1 on the same Can on wheels that Pete posted. Have run into some snafu's with it though.
1: On a HOT Georgia Summer day the can expanded enough that the wheels wouldn't roll so I had to drag the darn thing down the hill. I loosened the wheels but the axle really needs to be a 1" longer as the wheels have come off a couple times as the nuts backed off. 2: The mfg nozzle that comes with it is slow as molasses when fueling the boat. It takes forever to unload 15 gallons of fuel. I use a 1" jiggler that empties that sucker in no time. 3: Had issues filling it at Costco as one particular Pump Nazis said hey man you can't fill that big can here....apparently GA Law says you only fill up to 6 gal can max. WTF??? Ran down to BJ's 1 mile down the road and filled it up. May wanna check your states laws. Other then the above I love the ability to roll 15 gallons down the hill to fill up either boat. |

Actually Tim, it’s a law here in FL, maybe everywhere idk. You’re only allowed a maximum of (2) 5 gallon portable cans of gasoline to be transported at a time. I’ve never seen nor heard it enforced.
Hard to beat a jiggler on Any size can. |

Annnnnnnd we have a WINNNNNNNAHHHHHHH! ![]() ![]() Actually nothing Pete. I foresee a file or grinder on the wheel hubs so the nylock nut will engage. Todd, there is a placard next to the pump handle rest stating GA Law says no fueling portable cans over 6 gallons are allowed.... Since Costco pump attendants are wiping down the pump after customers use it there is always someone watching. I've filled them there before but there is always that ONE guy! ![]() |

Of course not Todd it's probably used like the cell phone laws. Not actually enforced but used to stack up charges if something does happen. Dropped when you agree to plead guilty so that it adds to the prosecutor's win tally. So when they go to run for that lucrative congressional seat, senate seat or nominated for that VP position they look like they are only in it to help you. Oh did I say that out loud ? Here is mine- 30 gallons of arm wrestling, back throwing out fun. I basically just use it for storage because it's big to get to a station, too heavy to wheel down hill when full. It was used at work to store gasoline removed from a vehicle's tank to service fuel pumps. Mechanic said it never failed that the tanks were full when the pump went out. |

I'm curious how you guys get these into/out of the back of a pickup (I'm assuming). Seems like a lot of weight. They make a 15 gallon version: I can't imagine trying to lift it though. I know you said caddy but the 5 gallon jugs are much more convenient where I'm at. I have one screw cap with a hose that fits inside my fill neck. I can empty a jug in under a minute. Usually takes me about 10 minutes to walk two 5 gallon cans from the garage down to the dock, dump them in, and bring them back to the garage.
Jaz products are the real deal BTW. I have 2 5 gallon jugs left over from my previous auto racing endeavors that are 25 years old and no worse for the wear despite holding 1000s of gallons of fuel. |
