So I've adjusted the shift cable on the new transmission and the lever has lost most of its stiffness but now there is a scraping sound and grabbing during forward travel inside the controller. I pulled it out and disconnected cables and it's smooth. I'm thinking it's got gremlins in it.

I posted this in your other throttle controller thread too

If it didn't scrape before, it shouldn't be scraping now, I think you have the "rough adjustment" done and if you play with the barrel connector adjustment for a fine adjustment, you'll make everything smooth without getting a new controller........unless you have this wild urge to get a new one.Wink

Rodney,
When the new trans was installed, were new cables installed? If not and the old were used, were they disconnected at the helm?

Rodney,
I'm just trying to figure out why you're up at the helm when the change made creating the problem was at the trans.

One of the suggestions was to remove the cable at the trans shift lever and manually move the lever to see if it was binding. Did you do that?

With the cable disconnected at the trans, does it move smoothly?

Did you ever look at different cable routing to minimize cable bending?

It does it even with cable off of trans. Probably from moving lever too much when it was stiff and now that I remedied that it's left over wear.

I think it jas nothing to do with the trans end of the deal. I'll just have to take the controller out and see if I can figure it out.
