Boat in the Rain

Well, went to the lake yesterday and left the boat uncovered overnight to dry out. I didn't get home from church in time to beat the rain, and it has rained off and on all day. (Plug is out so the boat can't hold water)

We are expecting rain everyday this week so I'm debating what would be worse. If I cover the boat now, it will trap that moisture in there and when the sun peeks out between thunderstorms it will create its own weather system under the cover.

OR, just let the boat get wet until the rain passes later this week, let the boat dry and then cover it?

Or maybe I'm worrying too much and either way there's no real harm?

Can you park it in a garage or car port and leave it un covered?

I'd be inclined to move a car out of the garage and put the boat in it to dry.

Covering a wet boat is not ideal but allowing a boat to be continually rained on would be worse. Do you have a good breathable cover? There’s no concern with covering when wet, if you do.

Even with my wife’s car moved out there’s not not enough room in the garage, all the extra space is taken up by a disassembled project car!

My cover is breathable and vented and I have a pretty powerful fan I can plug in and put in the boat to move the air. That should help.

As soon as the sun comes back out I’ll open it back up and let the sun dry it out.

Breathable via the vents I assume you mean… typically when the material itself is breathable, vents are not added. Better than nothing either way, I’d get it covered up.

10x20 party canopies are available, just anchor to ground with some ground augers, will provide cover to avoid saturation, but plenty of airflow

Yes breathable via the vents. 

The party canopy is a great idea too, I bet my local Harbor Freight has one!
