I just got a permanent FLOATING dock and I am trying to figure out the best way to moor the boat. The dock is 40' long and I want to dock the boat at the end so I can tie up my little Lyman ahead of it as it is much more agile! We have the left side (looking at the picture) of the dock. The boat will be moored only when I am at the lake. I have two dock whips that I want to use to keep the boat off the dock. I plan on attaching them to the lifting rings. Can anyone send me pics or describe how they have their dock lines set up? How do I limit the forward and backward movement of the boat (spring lines) using the lifting rings too? Also what is the best way to hook up to the lifting rings and not scratch the ring or the gelcoat? I can purchase cleats and mount them anywhere on the dock. The prevailing wind will tend to blow the boat towards the dock.
Also the dock has power and I was thinking of putting a trickle charger on the battery while I am there for the bilge pump incase it runs. How have any of you set this up? Thanks! Happy New year! Otto ![]() |

I’d recommend taking a look at a floating lift. I personally like the HydroHoist lifts, I’ve had them since 1997 and they’ve been delightful, no problems. They do make a side mount model that would work with your finger dock. You’ll be happy to keep your boat up out of the water and free from getting knocked around by passing vessels/high winds.
