I found a 1974 Martinique on Facebook when I saw it was orange I bought it and brought it home and did a little clean up. All in all its all there will probably need stringers and since it was stored outside and sometimes covered.  The engine cover was off and no flame arrester the Chrysler  340 is locked up. I might be able to have it rebuilt but would rather just replace it with a running engine. If anyone knows of one please let me know. Hopefully I can get it done by 2023

Nice score!   Rare engine.  I had a Mopar 340 engine in my 1971 Plymouth Duster (Twister).  Sweet engine.

Even with that nice new 99, I know Tim’s going to be jealous. I told him I’d keep my eyes open for a nice old orange boat for him.

The 340 Heads are the good part of the 340.  They made serious power.  You can bolt the 340 heads to a 360 Dodge and turn that slug into a very strong runner, same with a 318, it perks them right up.  Keep your eyes open for a 360 block if your 340 can’t be saved.

Yeah, Mike and I talked about his find yesterday...... Showed me the before pics and then Gail sent the after pics..... A diamond in the rough for sure and it's already looking Premo!!!

Speaking of New to the Fleet.... I added this one to the Morfleet on the 21st. Big thanks to Storm34 for the heads up noticeon this one so I could bring it home.

You’re going to love that bubble butt Nautique. Among the very best slalom wakes anywhere of all time. I thoroughly enjoyed my 97. Get a StarGazer and you’ll be all set for slalom. Where are you going to put it? I thought you had a full dock?

I thought I read somewhere that Marrs had a role in your getting the 99, but then I thought I read it was right up the road from you.  So Marrs, up in Iowa had to spot this boat for you just up the road?  He also had a part in my 176, tho I wasnt quite so lucky.  Road trip to Indy for mine.  He ought to start charging finders fees.

I go to bed at 8:30 every night cause I get up at 2:45am to be at work by 4am. When I woke up I had a txt from Mars with a SIA link saying " Dude...you need to drag this thing home as it's right up the road from you!!!" Make it Happen!!!!! I looked at the pics and thought man this one is sweet. Better think about it on the way into work... That lasted about 30 seconds. No, No NO!! Move on it now or someone else will beat you to it. Good thing I did as I was first in line. Two others responded....one from FL and another from SC. Talked to the guy later that morning And he was like...Man do you ever sleep that you sent a response at 3 AM??? Went to the Credit Union got the funds....Left work early in the rain, test drove it (as it let up for a while) through the Olympic Rowing Venue here on Lanier and drug it home. David...the Perfect pass has already been upgraded to StarGazer so I'm all set.  Kermit is on the trailer and next to the garage. Boat is on the lift in the bigger slip. Tried to upload a pic but it's not happening. Will have to find another means. Bad news is that  The Covid got me and I haven't been skiing behind yet even though its been in the 70's. Still have tomorrow as it's pouring down rain here.

I think I recall seeing the ad for Mikes  boat.  What a difference in that MQ already.  Wouldnt you think the seller would have at least cleaned it up like Mike did.  Some sellers are nuts.

Very nice boat, fill in the details soon.   I was looking for that hull when I found the 95 I bought in 2014, it was so clean I bought it and gave up on looking for the 97 up hull.   I am happy but I always hear your wake is a little better.  Good for you,.

Mark:  Head eastbound on I-80 for approximately 600 miles.  Then go southbound on I-15 for 10 miles. Call me.  The 2001 JQ Red Rocket Bubble-Butt will pull your butt around until you holler “quit”.  No excuses.

Morfoot, Is the slalom course still in the cove just to the south of Bald Ridge Marina? I used to ski there in the 90’s with Chuck Teasley who originally put that course in. It used a floating course that was sunk and raised by an air compressor.

David, yes its still there! Well sorta. My neighbors and I along with a few others still raise and lower that course by hand. Hasn't been up since mid summer as the lake has been full or over full. I live just to the right of BRM. I couldn't have landed in a better spot. 4 of us neighbors are Nauti owners and die hard slalom skiers.

Yes I wont talk about number 7 here as its not a CC. The PO had it sinking in the mud behind the garage. It was running when he parked it the interior was just done so he stored the seats and engine cover inside the garage. He tarped the boat outside with no engine cover and no flame arrestor . The tarps didn't hold up over the ten years it was outside so all the rain went down the carb . What a waste but at least I have clean seats that we will probably change anyway. I am currently doing a stringer job on a 85 Supra comp. Hopefully I will have it done by spring. I will not start on the 74 until the 85 is done

Colors were gone by 74, the hardware indicates that it’s a 72.

Some bad info above regarding 340/360 stuff. Don’t expect to find a running RH 340 anywhere, they’re extremely rare. Be happy you have a workable block… you’ll want to confirm displacement by looking at the side of the casting (273/318/340 were otherwise the same, visually). All got 318 heads in marine form. Century seemed to utilize the 340 more than most.

I believe I have a reverse rotation 318 Camshaft in the garage new in the box.   I did not know they used the 318 heads in the Marine version engines, 340 is still a good engine if you can rebuild it.  It looks a little rough like it has not ran in 20 years?  Thanks for the info TIm.   I think the good 340 heads were marked with an X casting and are still in demand to Dodge boys.
