I'm helping a friend in the UK with his early 80s Mustang 16.
In the back next to the solenoid, there is a part that looks just a multi pin connector, however it also has spade terminals and a fuse. It could just been a muti-wire connector with spades along with pins, but no one's sure. Anyone know what this is? |

It's commonly called a Bosch relay.
The one in the picture is rated for a max of 30 amps. Google "Bosch relay" and there will be plenty of info on what the terminals are for. 85 and 86 are power to the coil and ground for the coil. 30 and 87 are power into the relay and power out of the relay. There are several different ways to wire the relay, but what's mentioned above is "typical" It probably got added sometime in the last 40 something years..........or in other words, it wasn't part of the original wiring. ![]() PS ............early 80's and Mustang 16 just don't go together |

Ken, you never cease to amaze me with your wealth of knowledge. Yeah it's an '82 I think. That's why it ended up in England lol |

I agree, Ken has been a great resource for me on many occasions as well as many others on this site. They always manage to explain wiring in a a way that even us mechanical folks can understand.
