91 Nautique -  Do any of you have any recommendations for the best mirror for the driver to be able to see the skier for the complete width of the course? I currently have the original OEM Mirror mounted on the dash.

Look at CIPA mirrors.  That’s what I’ve been using for years.

I use a PTM mirror, I think this is the one I have now.

I went with the 100 degree rather than 140 degree field of view, just thought the 140 would be in the way when we use the walk-through on my boat.  I've been extremely happy with it, works great.

Just by coincidence, there's a thread on Ball of Spray right now with the same question about mirrors

Here's a link to that thread

I think PTM is short for "pay the money", but I'm not sure  Wink

Yikes!  Pay The Money, indeed.  $544 for the aluminum bracket mirror.  Looks nice, but damn…

Ken, which aspect of boating is the really, really low cost one? Smile

Yes, those mirrors are expensive, mine is the lower cost option with the carbon bracket and the smaller 100 degree mirror.  That price at Nautiqueparts seemed too low to me, they show $199 and I thought even the basic version was more than that.

All I can say is every time we ski the mirror goes up, every time I trailer it folds down, great clear view and it's out of the way of my forward line of sight.  And since I bought it 7 or 8 years ago it hasn't cost me much on a yearly basis if you think of it that way.

Just looked at the BOS thread, seems like there's agreement that PTM is a really good product.

I think us older inboard boaters have to realize ... with ski inboards over $100,000, and surf boats over $200,000, that group of people isn't saving pennies in the cookie jar for low cost mirrors.  Everything associated with water sports has prices jacked up, at least for the quality products.  So I'm not at all surprised that good mirrors cost a lot.

Hey.........you could go with a Roswell mirror and really pay through a certain part of your anatomy.Confused

But what I really can't get over is..................JQ grumbling about prices.

In the interest of full disclosure I have to fess up that I have a PTM Edge like Dave and I have a CIPA Comp and I also have one of these in the link below

I won't say which one I like the best Wink

I used to have a Cipa mirror.  I'm 6'2" and seated in the drivers seat my forward view is just above the windshield trim, or just below it if riding slightly bow high.  My forward vision sucked with the brackets holding that mirror just above the windshield.  My PTM extended above fixed that.

This isn't me driving, but gives an idea of the gap this style bracket provides that helps me with forward view.  You do have to look a bit higher when looking in the mirror, but I really like it.

Been chasing them my whole life and I will take that as a compliment LOL I think -  Honestly though in terms of wake if you are stacked and on edge the wake doesn't exist unless you are too forward with center of mass, , then its more of a launching pad!!!   The 90's and beyond have great wake compared to the 80's and Perfect Pass makes it a consistent pull -  It is a bit more washy at 28 but at 32 and 35 (can't speak to 38 and past) you are in the trough anyway and the wake won't be your issue at that point - at least not mine -

I am accepting any and all donations to aid in my upgrade to a newer model -

I appreciate all the input from you guys though.  This is by far the best group of experts on all things SN anywhere.

appreciate the info.  My wife being 5'2" she is already sitting on a throw cushion so that mount probably would give her a sore neck...

Gary, it was a compliment and yes, I know exactly what you mean. I just started course skiing about 3 years ago behind my 88'. Fifteen off 30 mph. I've always said if you can ski behind a 2001 hull then you can ski behind anything. Neighbor is 68 and running it 22' at 32mph. Other neighbor has a 03 SN and spoiled us both. I bought a 99 SN Dec of 21 and my other neighbor bought a 06 SN this spring and quickly sold his 88. So 3 of us on our cove have all 3 versions of the TSC hull. Life is good in the neighborhood. That being said I opted for the CIPA Extreme mirror for mine as the previous owner didn't have a mirror for it when he sold it to me. I like it but really don't pay that close attention to if I can see my buds run it as I'm making sure I drive as tight as I can down the lane.

It was never an issue for her until (you may remember or not) when I shattered my ankle requiring surgery summer of 2019 - I Retired from skiing until this year when I just couldn't stay away, (something about that lake smell - if ya know ya know - gets me every time) so now she doesn't like not being able to see me if she wants to (its just a thing with her now) -  Just want her to have a solid comfort level when she's pulling me ya know.
