This topic could have gone to several headings, hope it's ok here...
Repainting 1964 Interceptor engine and trans. At what point of assembly were these painted? Wanted to ask here because if there is a group that may have experience with these older engines, it is this group. Years of restoring Ford Mustangs taught me that Ford used a 'mask' to protect the installed intake manifold, valve covers, etc. from paint (the HiPo engines). As a result, the paint lines weren't precise nor consistanty located. Would like to get it as accurate as possible and not looking 'over-restored'... Thx!

Here are a couple of pictures. First one seems tastefully done, I think you know who it belongs to Second one looks kinda "not so good" I think you know who that belonged to also. I think that the Interceptor guys just hung the complete engine in the air and sprayed everything except maybe the fllame arrestor And links to an old thread or 2 about paint colors |
