Hot Water coming in the Bilge

First of all I'm a new owner of an 89 Ski Nautique. The boat has low hours (300) and has been well taken care of. 
Thanks to this forum I have learned and continue to learn all I can about my particular boat and all Nautiques in general.
I have perform the usual maintenance such as shaft and rudder packing etc... Yesterday I replaced the raw water pump as the boat was running warm and I noticed a leak from the housing. After pulling the pump the seals were shot, hence the leak from the housing. Instead of rebuilding I decided to replace it. The Sherwood Pump was more than I wanted to pay so I replace it with an aftermarket. There is no way to tell the correct orientation of the pump so I called Woody at Nautique Parts. Well needless to say I installed it the WRONG way.  The Temperature went up to 200 degrees, the raw water pump was very hot to the touch, so I immediately shut it off and pulled the pump of  and reversed the direction. After this the pump is cool and temperature gauge is running 160 -170. However, I am now getting HOT water into the bilge and coming up in the floor board under the drivers cockpit and in the storage area. With the engine running I do not see any evidence of leaking hoses etc... I'm assuming it's coming from the engine as the water is HOT and not the cool river water if it was the shaft or rudder packing. 
I'm at a loss as to where its coming from so I'm asking for advise here.
I haven't posted photos but I will soon.

BTW: A piece of the impeller was broken off from the old pump before I changed it.

Does this boat have a heater installed?

Yes, it does have a heater.

Hey Thank you PLBC! I went out and removed kick panel and exposed the heater box. I turned the engine on and hot water is leaking from the box not the hoses. So, it looks like I blew my heater core? 
I traced a line back to the engine where there is a valve. I'm assuming that is the shut off valve. Would that be the only one?

Post a picture of the shut-off valve and heater plumbing at the engine block...just in case.

I haven't posted a photo, but I'll certainly try. 
I'd like to just disconnect it as were in Arizona and rarely if ever need a heater, and my son want to ski in the morning!Smile

My Hot water turned out to be a leaking heater core. I'm going to connect the two lines that feed the heater box together in the morning as a temporary fix until I replace the heater core.

You are correct -- you can remove the supply line and the return line at the heater and then join the 2 hoses together with a barbed union and hose clamps.  Many boats were outfitted with heaters from Heater Craft.  If you go to the Heater Craft website, it will direct you here for parts.

If it makes you feel any better, the heater core problem you described is not uncommon.
